Well it's been exactly one month since Carsten and I became Mann und Frau. While we took this step alone, we are grateful to the many friends and family who have supported us throughout the nearly nine years.
For those of you learning of our marriage via postcard, e-mail or facebook, please don't take it personally. We tried to contact as many folks as possible and regret if we weren't able to get through to everyone.
We have additional photos shot on film, which I hope to post soon. In the meantime, thanks for visiting and enjoy our very first blog.

Us and a photographer

Our photog, Robert Davila, was our only witness. We still owe him dinner and appreciate his willingness to be part of our nuptials. After the quick ceremony, we headed to a more scenic location to document our wedding day.

No more excuses

We had talked of marrying many times but never seemed to have the time, the place or the money. This year seemed like especially bad timing with my sisters Hillary and Megan marrying earlier in 2008. After moving to Florida for Carsten's new position with University of Miami, we suddenly found ourselves facing the question again and decided just to do it sans fanfare.

Carsten and I met in 1999, while I was on a Fulbright to teach English in Dortmund, Germany. We started dating in 2000 and even got engaged in 2004. As you know, it has been a long and winding road, but we have managed to make it work and feel so happy to have finally taken this step.
